Gun Drones Deployed

So as a (very) small side project I have a little Tau force I'm putting together, which only gets any attention as a break between higher priority work. Here is the first finished unit, Gun Drones:

For me nothing beats the classic Tau colours, so that's how I'm doing them.

Now, onward to my next KoW army...

Final Engineer/Wizard Complete, and so is my Ratkin Army!

It gives me great pleasure to present the last model in my army, a Ratkin Wizard (or Skaven Engineer):

And so with him finished, time for some army shots!

I started this army nearly five years ago, and I'll admit at times it looked like an insurmountable task. But it's done! What a feeling, just great.

I've learnt a lot from this project (no more horde armies! Ever!) and feel ready to up my game on the next one. While I'm overall very happy with how this turned out, I regret not doing more with the basing, so that'll definitely be an area I'll improve upon in my next army.

As to what that'll be, watch this space...

Shock Troops Multi-based

As promised, here's my first multi-based unit. Behold as my Stormvermin transform into mighty Ratkin Shock Troops!

Nothing too fancy here with the multibasing, but I'm happy with the effect. Nothing else in my Ratkin will be rebased this way, but all future projects absolutely will be.

Death and Pestilence

It's been a long time since I've been able to hobby, but I'm back! And to prove it here's my most recent bit of work: a horde of Ratkin Blight.

So, Ratkin eh? Not Skaven? Well yeah, as I've mentioned before, I'm done with GW now, but Mantic's Kings of War is really doing it for me. So a few changes are being made to my army to enable the switchover, although very little is necessary. These were initially going to be Skaven Slaves, but given the abstracted nature of KoW there was no reason not to grossify the rats up and into members of the Blight.

Coming soon, my first attempt at multibasing!

Iron Warriors Force = Complete!

So, yet again another long break between posts, not nearly as bad this time though.

Finally finished my Iron Warriors Chaos Space Marines. Instead of posting the whole force like I said I would in a previous entry, I'm just going to present the highlights, since the whole army was in general a 'tabletop standard' project.

 My Chaos Lord

 Warpsmith

 Raptors

And finally, the Maulerfiend, which took almost a year to complete in itself, such was the level of my hobbying this last year.

I've got about two months now which I plan to dedicate to getting the last of my Skaven finished. After that I'll be in an eight-month hobby-free period, so I'm going to make the best of the time I have now. Hopefully I'll get pics up of the Skaven slaves before then, and maybe even a battle report send off for 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy.

Whatever the future holds, I can't see any Age of Sigmar making its way onto the blog. It just does nothing for me.

From the pits...

Wow, has it really been over a year since I updated?

Yes. Yes it has. Crazy.

In that time I have continued hobbying, but not at the same pace. However, I've failed to post what little progress I've made, so time to sort that.

I don't remember when I finished these exactly, but it was some point last year. Rat Ogres + Packmaster!

Now all I have left to paint in this army is one engineer and 40 slaves. I had planned on adding an Abomination, however the rumours about 9th really do nothing for me, so I can see myself wrapping up the army at that point. It's a shame, but after painting this many rats it's also a bit of a relief to have a clear finish-line.

In the Emperor's Name, Stand Your Ground!

The rumours about a new Imperial Guard book being on the way sufficiently excited me to finally paint my Lord Commissar. I've always liked this model, and I'm looking forward to fielding him on my front lines, providing that unique brand of "encouragement" for which the Commissariat is rightly known.
