Setup
Turn 1
Both fleets closed the distance at full speed, with only the Thunderer and Katsuchan holding back to prepare an anchored firing position.
Turn 2
The northmost Hunter rushed forward to pot-shot the Angkor, taking a big hit in return.
The Fury then moved up to flame the same Angkor, but failed to hit its mark.
On the south side, another Hunter sustained a critical hit from one of the Blacksouls, and elected to effect repairs while threading at full speed between the enemy ships. The second Angkor was having none of it, and blew the smaller ship to pieces. And thus did first blood go to the dwarfs of Tragar.
Turn 3
The winds moved one step clockwise.
To the north, the Runeaxe attempted - and ultimately failed - to grapple the Angkor, leading to a devastating exchange of broadsides.
To the south, both Blacksouls evaded the indirect barrage from the Thunderer and closed in on it - one scored a critical hit, destroying the Thunderer's engines!
But the critical hits weren't only going to the Abyssal Dwarfs. As the Orc's Bane circled the fort's south side, its broadside struck the ammo store of the Angkor! Kabooooom! It then finished out an impressive turn by grappling the Katsuchan and forcing its crew to surrender.
Meanwhile, the Tragarian air support ganged up on the third Dwarf Hunter, the Gargoyles crippling it before the worm finished it off.
Turn 4
The winds moved one step anticlockwise.
It was clear now to each commander which ship's crew was going to attempt to, ahem, dwarf the fort for each side - Grimmstone for the Dwarfs, Infernox for the Abyssal Dwarfs. With this in mind, the Runeaxe tried to grapple Infernox, expecting to lose but hoping to buy time - it failed again!
The remaining Angkor turned southward, putting the engineless Thunderer in its sights... and sinks it!
The Fury, which had sustained a number of hits by this point, anchored, lining up both flame belchers, front to strike the Infernox, rear toward the Angkor, and... missed both! Surely there must saboteurs aboard!
The Grimmstone's crew were first to the fortress but were immediately forced out by Immortal Guard from the Infernox. Tragar held the objective for now...
In end phase, the Fury - with something clearly amiss aboard and spying the enemy on the fortress battlements - surrendered.
Turn 5
The Dwarf airship targeted one of the Blacksouls, all attacks hitting for an instant crippling. There were no medium sized ships nearby to force a surrender however, and so the Blacksoul crew will have a chance to patch themselves up.
With the Infernox crew in the fortress, the Runeaxe grappled the skeleton-crewed ship, quickly forcing a surrender. Should the Abyssal Dwarfs be forced to flee the fort, they would have nowhere to run to.
The Grimmstone crew assaulted the fortress, resulting in a dead draw.
Turn 6
The winds changed one step clockwise.
The remaining Hunter, who had been licking its wounds since turn 2, gave chase to the fleeing Airship-crippled Blacksoul, crossing the T at full speed for a hail-Fulgria fire-as-she-bears rake - and hits the ammo store! Kaboom!
The battle over the fort continued to grind on, the remaining Angkor pouring fire into the skeleton-crewed Grimmstone to the point of crippling it. The Orc's Bane, forced to make a slow coming about, was nearly back in position to assist.
Turn 7
Far from the focus of the battle, the Gargoyles finally caught and destroyed the Dwarf Airship.
With the crew of the Grimmstone withdrawing to their battered vessel, the Runeaxe crew finally overcame the Immortal Guard to take the fortress into Imperial hands.
Turn 8
In a desperate effort, the Angkor crew assaulted fortress but were cut down, leaving a skeleton crew on the ship!
The Orc's Bane grappled the vulnerable Angkor and killed all remaining crew.
As a true last ditch attempt, the last Blacksoul assaulted the fortress but it was not to be.
Victory to the Dwarfs, and a point for Samarik stands!
